We offer two high-quality beef options for our whole and half beef customers:
Grass-Fed/Grass-Finished and Grain-Fed.
Both are responsibly raised and processed, but they differ in flavor, texture, and feeding approach—allowing you to choose what best fits your family’s preferences and cooking style.
At The Steel Buffalo Butchery, we offer the opportunity to purchase half and whole beef options to help you stock your freezer with high-quality, grass-fed and grain fed meat. We strive to simplify the process for our customers and provide detailed information to enhance your understanding of what to expect when buying beef in bulk.
Educating yourself about the beef purchasing process is crucial, whether you're buying from us or another source. Understanding the implications of live weight, marbling, and pricing will help you make informed decisions and ultimately enjoy the best meat for your family.
If you're interested in ordering a half or whole beef or have any questions about the process, feel free to reach out to us. We're here to assist you every step of the way!
Example: Calculations on a half/whole cow:
Live Weight Whole Cow = 1200lbs
Whole Cow Hanging Weight = 696lbs
½ cow hanging weight = 348lbs.
½ cow Yield Weight (Take Home) = ~200lbs
Our pricing is based on Hanging Weight @ $6.50lb for our grain fed beef and $6.90lb for Grass-Fed Grass Finished.
Based on these estimated numbers a ½ cow will cost you roughly $2,500.00 for Grass Fed
$2,000.00 for Grain Fed
