The building that we currently call home was originally built as an Abattoir for local farmers and families for the Dawsonville community. When the owner, Joe Green, moved to the area; he had a vision of reverting the building to its original function. He opened the doors in 2015 as a Deer Processing Facility and today we our a local Meat Meat Market and a USDA Abattoir for local farmer and hunters. We often get the questions "What does the name mean, and what does the No. 217 stand for? Joe was raised in a small town outside of Buffalo, NY; this area is prominently known for the steel industry. Hence the name, The Steel Buffalo Butchery! The No. 217 is very symbolic to the Green family. On the day Joe's first son, Nicholas, was born...God immediately had bigger plans for him. We remember Nicholas in the company by his final resting place number, 217.

We are always accepting applications. You must be 18 years of age or older for most positions. We hire for seasonal employment in September to help us through deer season.

Monday-Friday 8am-5pm. Saturday 9am-3pm. Closed Sunday. We will be taking quartered deer and wild hog only.
