Hunter Information

The 2024-2025 Hunting Season has closed.  We will continue to accept Wild Hog year round providing it is quartered in and brought to us in a cooler.

The Steel Buffalo Butchery is proud to be a year-round meat processing facility, dedicated to providing quality meat for families throughout the entire year. Unlike many wild game processors that only operate during the hunting season, we are here to serve our customers consistently, ensuring that you receive the best service regardless of the time of year.


Choosing a Wild Game Processor:

When selecting a wild game processor, it's important to understand their practices to ensure you receive the best care for your meat. Here are some key practices we follow:


  • Hanging Time: We allow your deer to hang for a minimum of 3 days before processing. This practice enhances the flavor and tenderness of the meat, resulting in a superior final product.
     
  • Traceability: Each deer is tagged with a lot number, ensuring that YOUR deer is returned to you. This system provides peace of mind, knowing that you will receive the exact meat you brought in.
     
  • Quality Packaging: Your deer will be returned to you vacuum sealed, frozen, and ready for your freezer. Vacuum sealing helps maintain freshness and quality, making it convenient for you to store and enjoy your wild game.

Processing Charges

Quartered/Cooler Deer: $80.00

Out of State Deer: $100.00 (Deboned & Quartered only)


$40.00 Gut Fee for all animals


Basic Processing: 

Whole Deer: $120.00

Cape Fee: $40.00


Bear: $1.25lb drop off weight

Cape Fee's:

Rug: $125.00

Shoulder Mount: $75.00


Wild Hog: 1.25lb drop off weight


Elk, Antelope, Axis, etc..  $1.25 lb

MUST BE DEBONED


A quartered deer is skinned, cut up into quarters, placed in a cooler with ice.


Specialties are available and are priced in addition to our processing fee's.  We offer Deer Jerky, Snack Sticks, ground patties, brats, etc.  Please see our cuts sheets for pricing.

Deer Season Policies, Procedures, & FAQ's

  1. Please allow 1-2 weeks for processing.  If you have not heard from us within 2 weeks, please reach out to us via email or or contact form on the website.   Deer Season is a busy time for us and phones are not answered regularly.   
  2. Please make sure phone numbers are legible. Every year we get several phone numbers that are ommited or we simply cannot read.  This makes it impossible to contact you for pickup. 
  3. We have extended hours for our hunters during season.  We remain open until 1 hour after sunset. This is generally 9pm until time change and then 8pm.   
  4. We will post any changes to our availability on our Website and Phones only.  Do not check Social Media for status updates. 
  5. Operating hours after 6pm are for Drop Off's only.   Pickups can be made between 8am-6pm Monday - Sunday. 
  6. Cooler deer brought in needs to be on ice.  
  7. A quartered deer is a deer that has been skinned, seperated into 4 equal parts detached from the spine.
